As the Art Conversations WA collective, we recently gathered in one of our members’ studios for an evening of creative exchange and experimentation. This meeting marked the first step in preparing for our upcoming exhibition, Crossroads, at Ellis House Art Centre 19 March - 12 April 2026.
During the evening, we shared skills and processes—experimenting with eucalyptus oil transfers, testing stencil cutting with the Brother machine, and exploring new approaches together. Some experiments were successful, others required adjustments, but all contributed to strengthening our bond as a group and setting the tone for the collaborative journey ahead.
The spirit of Crossroads lies in reflecting on moments of change, choice, and transition. Through diverse styles, mediums, and scales, our artists will explore what it means to stand at a turning point in life. From deeply personal stories to shared experiences, each work will offer a unique perspective on life’s crossroads.
Participating Artists
Andy Druyan – expressive oils capturing emotion and experimentation
Anita Grewal – geometric works balancing chaos and order
Eimear Flynn – explorations of nature, imagination, and storytelling
Graham Hay – internationally exhibited paper clay sculptor
Ivana Girard – identity, belonging, memory, and impermanence in mixed media
Iwona Van Niekerk – abstraction and feminine identity shaped by multicultural influences
Jane Marron – impressionistic landscapes, seascapes, and portraits with bold textures
Kamila Waleszkiewicz – printmaking, installation art, and feminine ideantity in conteporary society

This studio night was not only an opportunity to test ideas but also an affirmation of what our collective stands for: shared learning, experimentation, and community connection. With Crossroads, we look forward to presenting these values in an exhibition that invites audiences to reflect on their own moments of transition.
Crossroads Exhibition - Ellis House Art Centre - 19 March – 12 April 2026
Exhibition Description
Crossroads a powerful group art exhibition at Ellis House Art Centre showcasing a diverse group of local artists as we explore the theme of change, choice, and transition. Each artist will interpret the idea of a “crossroad” in their own way, using a wide range of materials and styles—including painting, sculpture, photography, print making, digital imaging and mixed media. The result will be a rich, layered collection of work that speaks to moments of decision, personal growth, and the unknown paths ahead.
Some pieces will be deeply personal, reflecting major life events or inner struggles. Others will focus on broader themes, exploring shifts in community, culture, or the environment. The exhibition will highlight the talent and voices of local artists from different backgrounds, each offering a unique view of what it means to stand at a crossroads. The artists in Crossroads are connected not just by their talent, but by their lived experiences. Whether literal or symbolic, these works will invite visitors to reflect on their own experiences and the decisions that shape their lives.
Whether you're facing your own crossroads or simply curious about the stories behind the art, the exhibition will offer something deeply human and relatable.
